Keeping Minnesota homes in good repair and up to date is part of the mission of the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency. MHFA, along with your community lenders and housing agencies, can provide you with below market interest rate loans to fix up your home.

You can use these loans to hire a contractor or you can do the work yourself!

Can you qualify for a Fix-Up Fund Loan?

• Your gross household income must be no greater than $90,000.
• You must be the year round owner/occupant of the home you are fixing
• You can fix a single family home or a duplex all the way up to a quad

Maximum loan amount is $35,000 with a below market interest rate. Currently 7.25%. You'll have fixed payments that will be a regular affordable amount each month.

Most improvements to the livability, accessibility, or energy efficiency of a home are eligible. Electrical wiring, a new roof, room additions, a garage and septic repairs are just some of the possibilities. Ineligible improvements include: swimming pools and other recreational or entertainment facilities. Mobile homes are not eligible to receive home improvement financing unless they are fixed on a permanent foundation and taxed as real property.
